Male Infertility Treatment

Nearly 1 in 7 couples is infertile and male infertility is emerging as equally important factor. (It is reported that 40% of infertility cases are related to men)

Causes :

• Genetic diseases : ( 2-8 % in infertile men )
• Medical conditions : Diabetes, thyroid disorder, infections.
• Certain medications and supplements especially artificial protein
• Varicocele
• Cancer treatments
• Unhealthy lifestyle : Heavy alcohol, smoking, recreational  drug use.
• Trauma to testes
• Problems with sexual intercourse: Difficulty in erection, premature ejaculation, painful intercourse or psychological problems.

Investigation :

Semen analysis is basic first test and then depending on cause, other tests can be done.

Treatment: (Depending on cause)

• Low sperm count – Medical treatment can be tried.
• No sperm count – Sperm can be retrieved directly from the testis (if possible) using TESA technique or sperm donor can be used.
• Varicocele: Varicocele can be corrected by painless, stitchless laser treatment.
• HIFEM Chair(Emsella) Therapy – A breakthrough for male sexual problems :  It uses high intensity focussed electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate the contractions in the entire pelvic floor, therefore strengthening the pelvic muscle. Other treatment for male infertility :

IUI : Healthy motile sperms aGer preparation are placed into the female partner’s uterus.
ICSI: ICSI is an advanced IVF technique. If there is no sperm in the semen, sperm may then be taken from the testis using TESA technique.
IMSI: IMSI is an advanced version of IVF. The sperm is magnified 6000 times and best sperm is chosen.
